David has a diverse background, having worked first as a nursing home administrator and later as a mortician. From these two somewhat related careers, he made the transition into politics.
David's 30 years of legislative and political experience includes almost 13 years in the Austin office of The Eppstein Group, a Fort Worth-based company, as well as earlier positions as Director of State Affairs for the Texas Farm Bureau, Vice President of Government Relations for the Texas Hospital Association, Director of Political Education for the Texas Medical Association, Deputy Legislative Director for Texas Governor William P. Clements, Jr., and Administrative Assistant for the Chair of the Texas House of Representatives’ Ways and Means Committee.
Marwitz has been recognized by Campaigns and Elections magazine as one of the top 50 PAC Directors in the United States, and was a co-recipient of a Pollie Award from the American Association of Political Consultants, for the video: "The Managed Care Zone."
David earned his bachelor’s degree in gerontology from St. Edward’s University followed by post-graduate studies in human services. He is a former Adjunct Instructor of Political Science at St. Edward’s. Since 2011, Marwitz is also a court approved Mediator and certified CASP professional (Certified Aging Services Professional).
As an avid book collector, David has shared his love of books by spearheading a fundraising effort that resulted in the building of a library in Vietnam for the organization, Room to Read; his current fundraising focus is for a library in South Africa. Marwitz is a former board member for Lobby For Hope, an organization that raised funds for the needy. David often volunteers to feed the homeless and is an advocate for their plight.
